Ian Westlake admitted he was expecting some 'grief' last night - despite scoring for Ipswich Town in their 2-0 Carling Cup first-round tie against Brentford.
The midfielder poked home from close range in the dying seconds after a huge punt upfield by Blues goalkeeper Lewis Price.
And, with Bees shotstopper Stuart Nelson having pushed forward for a corner at the other end, there was every chance Price's effort might have crossed the line on its own.
Westlake told the Evening Gazette: "Lewis is living with me at the moment while he moves house so I'm expecting some grief.
"It did cross my mind to let the ball roll over the line, but I was aware there was a defender hot on my heels.
"And I was a bit worried it might curl wide of the right-hand post. Then I would have kicked myself.
"But the main reason I knocked it over the line was because like any outfield player I always want to score goals."
