Joe Keith is hoping it will be a case of deja vu when Colchester United kick-off their Carling Cup campaign against Cheltenham Town at Layer Road tonight.

The former West Ham trainee netted the opening goal that set the U's on the road to victory over Cheltenham in the LDV Vans first round last season.

And with a cracking Coca-Cola League One goal in the win at Sheffield Wednesday already under his belt this season, Keith is very keen to kick-start his cup-goal tally as well.

"I'd love a repeat of last season's goal at Cheltenham," the attacking midfielder told the Evening Gazette as he warmed up for tonight's clash.

"Cup football is very important to our players, and for the club," he went on.

"It generates a bit of cash and could open the door for us to play against one of the really big clubs.

"We enjoyed a great run in all the cup competitions last season, but were very disappointed not to get a game against one of the big guns. Although, we did enjoy a couple of good games against Coventry City and Sheffield United from the First Division."
