Opened by Castle Point mayor Wendy Goodwin, the sensory garden behind Hadleigh United Reformed Church, in Church Road, Hadleigh, was built by Benfleet Rotary Club.
The garden, which has raised flowerbeds for wheelchair access and sensory plants chosen for their smells and touch, cost £3,000 and was built to mark 100 years of Rotary.
It will be used to help class members of Hadleigh Art Ministry at the church, which runs classes for many community groups, including blind and the disabled people.
