Sam Stockley, a hero of Colchester United's marathon League and cup exploits last season, is ready to sweat blood for the cause again.
The attacking full-back appeared in a staggering 58 of the U's 61 outings last term.
And, looking ahead to tonight's Carling Cup first-round Layer Road tie with Cheltenham Town, he told the Gazette: "There's plenty more where all those games came from.
"Cup football is very important to us.
"We achieved some great results and played super football in every competition last season.
"It gives us all a nice little break from the intensity of League football, but the likelihood of Colchester United winning the Carling Cup or the FA Cup is remote to say the least.
"Of course, we'll be going flat out to win tonight.
"We always want to win every match we play."
