Chelmsford post workers are helping prepare a Royal Mail truck load of aid for Eastern Europe on September 10.
The aid organised by the Communication Worker's Union in the East of england will leave Boreham post centre on the three week humanitarian mission.
The truck is being sponsored by employers Royal Mail who are also paying for two long distance drivers.
The union sponsor the aid in different parts of Eastern England each year and its Essex CWU Federation turn now to are send essentials to Transinistria a break-away republic once a part of Moldova and before that the former Yugoslavia.
The aid runs were set up in 1995 to Bosnia and later Romania.
Supplies range from children's clothes and nappies to very basic medical supplies purchased with donated funds from branches or sponsored organizations.
At the wheel this autumn will be John Hunt, CWU Essex Branch Secretary and Neil Cocks, a driver from the Essex Distribution Centre, Dukes Park, Springfield.
Mr Hunt said:"I am very proud that this year the Essex Amalgamated Branch has been chosen to take on the role of leading this annual activity.
"It has taken a lot of hard work by people working behind the scenes.
"We will not only be delivering aid but visiting hospitals and private homes to find out for ourselves how harsh the conditions are that these people live in and to show them that they have not been forgotten."
