A seafront hotel looks set to expand despite several concerns about how it will affect neighbours.
Planning officers have recommended approval for alterations to Bath House Hotel, Walton, including a new restaurant, bar and dancefloor.
Landlord Dave Green has asked for the changes. His application is due to go before Tendring Council next week.
The bid has caused concern among residents in the Princes Esplanade area, who feel the extension would lead to more noise and disturbance.
They are also concerned about parking issues and a possible increase in vandalism and disorder.
Tendring Council has received ten letters of objection, as well as a recommendation for refusal from Frinton and Walton Town Council.
However, district officers feel conditions could be made to prevent trouble and noise. One idea is a sound insulation scheme.
