A 25-year-old man hanged himself at Christmas-time because he was depressed, an inquest heard.
Christian Little was found hanging from a scarf tied to a door-hinge at his home on December 30 last year.
At the inquest into his death yesterday, Essex Coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray heard Mr Little's brother John had knocked on the door of his house in Military Road, Colchester, but got no answer.
He got the key from the landlord and went in together with three builders, who were working on the property at the time.
They found Mr Little hanging in the kitchen and police later discovered a suicide note on a table nearby.
The inquest at Colchester town hall heard from Mr Little's girlfriend Caroline Clayton, who said he had been depressed in the days leading up to his death.
She said he was worried about money and felt he had failed to make a success of his life.
Mrs Beasley-Murray recorded a verdict of suicide
