A father and son are in a serious but stable condition after a crash by the Maldon junction of the A12.
The crash happened just after 2.30am today after the driver of a blue Mercedes lost control of the vehicle on the northbound carriageway of the A12, just before the A414 Maldon junction.
The Mercedes left the carriageway on the left and struck a hedge.
The 48-year-old man who was driving sustained serious neck and arm injuries while his 40-year-old wife sustained cuts and bruises.
Their 16-year-old son sustained serious head and neck injuries.
All three members of the family were taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford by ambulance.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact Chelmsford road police unit on 01245 452918.
