A new sheltered accommodation scheme for Clacton is likely to be rubber-stamped.

Councillors have been advised to give their support to 21 proposed apartments in Collingwood Road.

If approved, they would be built on the old Chelsea Hotel site, which would be demolished along with a house.

The complex would be for the over-60s and include communal facilities, parking and gardens.

Rovestar Estates has made the application and wants to redevelop the site into six one-bedroom apartments and 15 two-bedroom ones.

The application goes before Tendring Council for a decision on Tuesday.
