Colonies of feral cats are being cared for thanks to events like a Benfleet garden party tomorrow.
The event, running from 1.30pm to 4.30pm at 12 Hill Road, off Underhill Road, Benfleet, is aid of the Cat Action Trust.
Fundraiser Mandy Lillie said: "We deal mainly with feral cats, having them neutered and spayed, to keep the colonies under control and stop infections spreading, from all the cross-breeding.
"The cats are usually too wild for us to find homes for them, but we do home them if there is any chance."
The garden party includes cream teas, stalls, raffles, tombolas, homemade jams and marmalades. Admission is 50p.
