A fuel spill closed off the entrance to Tesco at The Hythe in Colchester.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to Tesco, in Greenstead Road, following the two-car collision at 7.34am today.
Fuel spilled on the slip road is believed to have caused the accident. Police are studying CCTV footage to establish how it got there.
The drivers of both cars, who were carrying no passengers, both sustained minor injuries.
An ambulance service spokesman said the more seriously hurt of the two was advised to go to hospital by ambulance, but declined.
The store remained open throughout.
