A man was attacked and robbed by a gang as he walked past a church.
The 26-year-old victim was attacked at about midnight on Tuesday.
Elaine Seymour, spokeswoman for Clacton police, said the victim was walking down Carnarvon Road and into Holland Road when three teenagers attacked him.
She said: "He was knocked over a church wall and repeatedly punched and kicked."
The man had his mobile phone, money, watch and gold neckchain stolen during the assault.
The spokeswoman said the three robbers then ran off down Church Road.
All three are described as aged between 17 and 19.
The first man was of slim build and was about 5ft 4ins tall. He had short cropped hair and was wearing blue stone-washed jeans with turn-ups, dark jacket and white trainers.
The second robber was also of slim build and was about 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a dark tracksuit with the hood up.
The third was 5ft 9ins or 5ft 10ins and of stocky build. He was wearing a dark-coloured tracksuit with the hood up and a baseball cap on underneath.
