Basildon-based motor racing star Jay Howard is close to making a big breakthrough in America following an impressive display at the Infineon.
Competing in Chicago, the 23-year-old finished third in the opening race before recovering well to emphatically win the second.
And that has attracted interest from one of the leading teams in the Champ Car circuit, North America's version of Formula One.
"There was a bit of a problem in the first race and I ended up starting quite a long way down so finishing third wasn't too bad," he said.
"The second race was obviously much better though and I was delighted with the result."
Howard's heroics also impressed the watching Andretti Green team who he will now be meeting for discussions at the start of September.
"It was the equivalent of Frank Williams from the Williams team over here who gave me a ring," confirmed Howard.
"He told me they had been impressed with the way I had been racing and were interested in meeting up so I will be going back out there towards the start of September."
