Southend Council was today backing a multi-million pound expansion at the town's airport including a new passenger terminal and railway station.
Southend Council's development control committee voted to support the scheme, which also involves a new visitors' centre at the back of the Airport Retail Park.
The new terminal, to the north of the retail park, will have baggage handling capability, shops, cafe, Customs and Excise facilities and toilets.
