Tributes were today paid to a 20-year-old motorist who died in a horrific road smash.
Bradley Ward, who lived with his mother Sandra and sister Kate in Kersbrooke Way, Corringham, died after his Ford Fiesta collided with a tanker on the A1014 Manor Way, near Coryton.
He was taken from the crash scene to Basildon Hospital, but died there.
Police believe the Fiesta crossed over to the wrong side of the road before the accident occurred at 7.05pm on Friday.
People living near the family's semi-detached bungalow said Bradley was a typical, fun-loving young man.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "He was just an ordinary sort of a lad who was growing up.
"It is a terrible thing to have happened. It shocked us backwards when we heard the news."
Bradley's mother and sister are away from their home as they try to come to terms with his death.
Among floral tributes lain at the scene of the crash is one from Bradley's former workmates at the Canute Haulage Group, based in Linford.
Laindon traffic police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call 01268 541312.
