A second half double from hot shot Danny Hockton handed Billericay Town a well deserved 2-0 victory over Dover Athletic at New Lodge last night.

The former Millwall front runner bagged a brace as Town continued their impressive start to the season - much to the delight of boss Justin Edinburgh.

"It was an excellent performance from start to finish," he said.

"I was delighted with each and every one of the players who took part and we kept another clean sheet which was very positive."

Edinburgh's words followed a match which began slowly before Billericay wasted three golden opportunities to open the scoring on the stroke of half time.

Experienced striker Bradley Allen fired a well struck left foot shot straight at Pat Mullin in the 42nd minute and, just seconds later, Gavin Heeroo was wide of the right upright from ten yards after neatly controlling a deep Ludovic Quiston cross.

Hockton then fired a powerful left foot shot over the cross bar but Town were not to be denied and, seven minutes after the break, they finally opened the scoring as Hockton rose highest at the near post to head home Heeroo's left wing corner.

Hockton, who also netted the winner at Heybridge Swifts on Saturday, doubled his evening's tally in the 61st minute as he raced onto a Quiston ball forward to beat the advancing Mullin with a low right foot which flew into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
