A man received burns to his right hand after a cooker fire at his home in Braintree.
Firefighters from Braintree were called to the fire at 9.32pm yesterday in Glebe Avenue.
The fire had been put out by a neighbour by the time the crews arrived.
The 32-year-old occupant of the house was treated for burns by fire crews, followed by paramedics.
He was then taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.
An investigation into the fire has now been launched and it is being treated as suspicious.
