A devastated family have paid tribute to a loving father killed in a head on collision with a vehicle travelling the wrong way.
Father-of-two Anthony Nisbet, 55, of Exford Avenue, Westcliff, was described by his family as "their rock".
Mr Nisbet was driving a silver Toyota Avensis along the southbound carriageway of the A130 at Ivydene Bridge, Rawreth, early on Saturday morning.
His vehicle was in collision with a red BMW heading north on the southbound track.
The taxi driver with AC Radio Cabs leaves behind widow Waltraud, known by most friends and family as Margaret, son Michael, 22, and daughter Sonia, 19.
Margaret said: "He was a devoted husband and father. He was our rock.
"He is irreplaceable and we will miss him dearly."
A Dunmow man, 36, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, has been released on police bail until October 9.
