A development site in Braintree is part of a national scheme by a joint venture to develop budget hotels.
London and Hanover Group and Heritage Group Developments have acquired the Notley Cross site just outside Braintree to build a Sleep Inn hotel, petrol station, drive-through restaurant and motor showroom.
The 3.4-acre site is immediately next to the newly-opened A120 trunk road which provides a direct link from Braintree to Stansted Airport.
The total value of the development will be in excess of £10m.
David Jason of London and Hanover, said: "Notley Cross was ideal for us it is situated in a great location and is of a size which has enabled us to develop not only the hotel, but other roadside uses.
A planning application for the development will be submitted to Braintree Council and a decision made by the area committee.
