A unique prize is on offer in a fundraising raffle for Women's Aid that has been organised by a Leigh painter.
Oil painting - Dave Mier will put your image on canvas Picture: MAXINE CLARKE
Dave Mier initially decided to print bookmarks featuring examples of his work as a promotion, but decided it was just as easy to support a good cause at the same time.
The bookmarks now have a tear-off portion that act as raffle tickets, with the top prize a specially painted portrait.
Mr Mier said: "A painting of them, or maybe a family member or pet, in oils will be worth £300 or more."
He has 5,000 bookmarks to sell at £2 each. The winner will be drawn in December.
Maggi Howell, executive director of Women's Aid, said the money would go towards supporting the outreach work of Southend's Dove Project.
To order bookmarks to support the project, telephone 07952 573751.
