A driver had an "amazing" escape after his car rolled over several times as he headed along the A12.
The crash happened on the London-bound carriageway at Stratford St Mary just after a corner.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "The crew had to battle through the traffic to get to the crash.
"When they got there, they found the driver of the car, who was the only occupant, sitting in the cab of a lorry, which had stopped.
The car had suffered severe damage and was sitting on the verge.
"Amazingly, the 57-year-old, of Hadleigh, had only suffered a laceration to his head and pain in his left shoulder."
The injured man was taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment.
Details of the accident, which happened happened last Thursday, have just been released.
