Greg Halford is hungry for double figures this year.

The young Colchester United defender, who bagged four goals in the space of two months at the end of last season, believes he will find the net again this campaign.

"My personal goal is to get into double figures, and even though I'm a right-back I think it's possible," he said.

"I played for two months solid last year and managed to get four goals, so over the course of a season I must be able to get more than that."

Halford helped his team hold on to top spot in the Coca-Cola League One table after their 2-1 victory over Peterborough on Saturday.

The U's were indebted to another of his trademark long throws which have been giving opposition defenders jitters since he broke on to the scene.

This time, however, it was not one of his team-mates on the end of the ball but Posh defender Craig Ireland.

Ireland's flick on with the back of his head was an attempt to clear it over the bar, but it went over keeper Mark Tyler instead and into the back of the net for the U's winner.
