A plot of land originally earmarked for luxury flats is still being used as a dumping ground.

The site at Lubbins car park was closed off by a barrier of bricks, rubble and now fridges.

Residents are furious about the mess but Castle Point Council has said it has no power to stop the dumping.

People complained when the four-foot barrier was placed around the site and now they are demanding action taken over the flytipping.

A council spokesman said they were powerless to take action and it was down to the land owners.
