Georgia Foote, eight, attended the Young Kennel Club Training Camp last month with her dog, a three-year-old Papillion.
She won the category of best junior handling under 12.
Georgia, who lives with ten dogs in South Hanningfield Road, Wickford, said: "The best bit was winning the competition for the best junior handler under 12.
"Poppy used to be the family's dog, but now she is mine."
Her mum, Jane, added: "She was one of the youngest in the group. She has a great relationship with the dog and this really showed."
Georgia goes to St Peter's School in South Hanningfield.
