More than 70 children came out of their shells to take part in a crabbing competition.
The contest was held on Sunday on the Halfpenny Pier, Harwich, in the latest event to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the town charter.
The best catch of the day was from 14-year-old Thomas Wells, who notched up an impressive 130g crab.
Callum Barnard, six, and Jack Mader, 11, claimed the second and third prizes.
Councillor Garry Calver, the organiser, said: "The turnout was fantastic and parents and children alike had a fun time in a traditional Harwich way.
"We have tried to arrange events which enabled everyone to be part of Charter 400. This one certainly appealed to families with young children."
The competition was free to enter for everyone under 16 and was sponsored by Cafe on the Pier and Pier Seafoods, with councillor Dave McLeod and Harwich Radio keeping people updated.
