Basildon Athletic Club are celebrating after two weekends of superb winning form culminated in them being promoted to the Premier Division of the UK Youth Athletes League.
Previously they'd seen off all opposition, including local rivals Southend AC, Stevenage AC, and a powerful Luton AC squad, in the Eastern Young Athletes League at their home Gloucester Park track.
They emerged as emphatic winners of the meeting by over 170 points.
And they followed up by hosting the final UK Young Athletes League meeting of the season, a Southern League Division One tie.
Coming in to this final and decisive meeting, Basildon were leading by a narrow margin with the same number of points and only 40 event points separating them from powerful second placed club Tonbridge AC.
As the match drew to a close however it was clear that there was going to be only one winner and that was Basildon AC who eventually ran out as well deserved match winners and league champions.
