There was disappointment for Basildon Ladies when they competed for the coveted JHB Shield at Bournemouth.
Despite a magnificent run of results, including taking both gross and net honours in theregional final, the team could not quite find the edge they needed for that final finish.
The team of Margaret O'Leary, Sue Cable, Jackie Worthington and Jennie Shields did their very best to clinch the Trophy, but could only manage fifth place.
The Silver Team had a similarly disappointing result when they met Wanstead in the final of the Division.
Having beaten Wanstead in the preceding round of the competition they could not pull off the required form and had to settle for second place.
Daphne Saitch and Olive Bell took the honours in the open competition at Canons Brook, Harlow.
Playing a fourball betterball, the duomade a great partnership, finishing up with 42 points.
The medal brought out some great play, particularly from Denise Woolley, who played her best game of the season to win - with a net 65 (six under).
Brenda Andrews (67) took second spot, while Maureen White (72) was third.
