Rochford's Doggetts lake has been producing some remarkable fishing during the hot weather.
The carp anglers enjoyed a positive bonanza with several people beating their personal bests by landing immaculate twenties.
Tench to seven pounds also provided solid sport to both the float fishermen and the carp anglers, but shoals of large bream were not evident at dusk.
As the weekend arrived fishing conditions deteriorated and catches slowed down as the humidity increased.
Danny Ball and Darrell Peters, both from Southend, fished for a couple of nights on the north bank.
Ball landed three mirrors of 13.15lb and 19.5lb, plus commons of 15 and 13lb. Peters caught a mirror of 16.5lb, plus a very hard fighting 18.5lb common.
The saga continues between Hadleigh's Mark Smith and his competitive young pupil Dave Corps.
The pair fished the long arm with Smith banking a 20.8lb mirror.
Corps landed some nice tench and lost a carp from the back pool, but managed to snare his first ever Doggetts twenty, which was another personal best.
