A woman had a lucky escape when a car crashed into her kitchen just a few feet from where she was sitting.

Corinna Wilkinson, 34, of Azalea Way, Clacton, was sitting at the computer screen by her kitchen door when the accident happened.

"There was an almighty bang and I wondered what had happened.

"I thought a cupboard had fallen off the wall. When I looked, there was a car outside ," she said.

Miss Wilkinson, who works for the Woolwich in Clacton, said the Renault hit her kitchen wall then bounced back off.

"The wall has come right through. My kitchen sink, units, washing machine - everything was pushed into the kitchen by two feet," she said.

She is now waiting for builders to assess the damage.
