Plans to build a crematorium to serve the Dunmow district have been revealed this week.
Braintree District Churches Fellowship is seeking public opinion for a new crematorium which would also serve Braintree residents.
Secretary Rev David Dickens has sent questionnaires to clergy, funeral directors and council representatives, with residents set to receive surveys soon.
Rev Dickens said: "Providing we get the location right it would significantly reduce the journey times for people within the two districts. It should also reduce the waiting times for cremations."
