Motorists are being warned of possible delays when roadworks begin on the M25 later this month.
Major work is set to begin between junctions 28 (Brook Street) and 29 (A127) on August 20 and are expected to last until September 30.
During this time lanes of the M25 and slip roads on and off the motorway may be closed allowing workmen to carry out 'major maintenance' by laying a new surface which will be quieter and better for drivers.
In a bid to cause as little disruption as possible to motorists the Highways Agency will be carrying the work out overnight and will always keep at least one lane of the motorway open before having the whole road open during the day and peak periods.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: "If we do have to close any slip roads diversions will be put in place to help drivers get around the closures but we hope to keep these to a minimum.
"We are aiming to have the work completed by the end of September if all goes well but the weather will be a major factor because if the weather is against us it might take a little longer."
