Visitors had a chance to meet some owls at Colchester's Natural History Museum as part of the national Go Live event.
It attracted 250 visitors to the High Street museum.
Spokeswoman Marie Taylor said: "It was very much a family event and was very popular. We flew the owls over people's heads and they were fascinated to find out more about owls."
One of the star attractions was Amber, a european eagle owl with a wingspan of 5ft
