A pensioner is furious at the state of the streets in Wickford and she is prepared to go all the way to the top to make her point.
Furious - Patricia Davis is ready to write to the Prime Minister about the rubbish littering Wickford's streets Picture: ROB BROWNE
Patricia Davis, of Wilsons Court, Kershaws, said she was so outraged at the rubbish and glass-strewn streets she was writing to the Prime Minister.
Mrs Davis, 68, said: "It's absolutely disgusting. There are broken bottles everywhere.
"I'm writing to Tony Blair so he can do something about it."
Mrs Davis believed young people were responsible for the mess and called on them to respect the area they live in.
Basildon Council leader Malcolm Buckley said cleaners regularly tend to the town's streets, but he also urged people to be more considerate.
