A new hotline has been launched in a bid to make it easier for elderly and vulnerable residents in Billericay, Wickford and Basildon to access information on helpful services.
A handy person scheme, home safety and security checks, welcome home from hospital service, independent living advisors and home energy efficiency advice are among the services provided within the One Stop Shop scheme.
The joined-up service approach is provided by the Moat Housing Group, Basildon District Council and Essex County Council and is aimed at providing an easy access service for elderly and vulnerable people.
The hotline is part of this process which gives people one point of contact for their queries.
A wide range of services to elderly, disabled and vulnerable people in the Basildon district are on offer, whether they live in a council or private home.
A special ceremony was held on Thursday, July 29, at The Basildon Centre where council chiefs and the chief executive of Moat Housing Group, John Barker joined together to celebrate the official launch of the One Stop Shop.
Project manager at Moat Housing Group, Justine Wilkes, said: "The One Stop Shop is a flexible and responsive service with locally determined priorities. It builds upon the special services that Moat has been offering to people in Basildon for the past 11 years.
"In particular their valuable home improvement services that assist older, disabled or vulnerable people to remain living independently in their own homes."
For further information call the hotline on 01268 465410.
