A young woman who suffered horrific multiple injuries after falling three storeys from a hotel balcony while on holiday in Greece is back in England.

Danielle Oakley, 21, is out of intensive care and on a ward at Colchester General Hospital.

It had been hoped she might return home to St Osyth for the first time this weekend, but that was dashed after she suffered a setback when she contracted the MRSA bug.

Friends and villagers are planning a big fundraiser this weekend as the on-going effort to support Danielle goes on.

Wendy Miles, landlady at the Red Lion in St Osyth, said everyone was thrilled the 21-year-old was making steady progress.

Her father, Brian, is doing some work at the pub and she gets regular updates.

"Brian and Pat and the rest of the family, along with her boyfriend Anthony Cricket are spending a lot of time with Danielle at Colchester General," said Mrs Miles.

"She is out of intensive care and on the wards in her own room. She has had a body brace fitted and needs to keep that on for about three months and then she should be able to take her own weight."
