Colchester United continued their winning start to the season in Coca-Cola League One with a 3-2 victory over Stockport County at Layer Road last night.
Kevin Watson opened the scoring for the U's in the 19th minute and the home side had raced to a 3-0 lead by half-time with further strikes from Wayne Andrews (30 mins) and Craig Fagan (41 mins).
It was a different story in the second half though with Stockport coming close to getting a point.
Lee Cartwright (66 mins) and Luke Beckett (79 mins) put the visitors back into contention but they couldn't quite snatch an equaliser.
The result leaves the U's still top of League One.
Southend secured their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw away at Lincoln City in Coca-Cola League Two.
Lincoln took the lead in the ninth minute through Gary Taylor-Fletcher but this was cancelled out by Southend before half time.
Wayne Gray scored on 31 minutes for the Shrimpers to bring them back on terms.
