Mystery surrounds a valuable haul of stolen loot discovered by a dog walker in Langford, near Maldon.
The collection of trophies and ornaments, probably stolen during a house burglary, were found abandoned but police have been forced to appeal for help because they have no idea who they belong to.
Ray Stannard, crime reduction officer at Maldon police, said the items were found by a member of the public hidden under the bridge outside the Museum of Power in Maldon Road.
But there has been no such theft reported in the Maldon district.
Mr Stannard said: "It is a mystery. We think the items must have been stolen from a house."
The find features an array of silver-coloured treasures, including five trophies with black bases, two of which display the title Erith Horse Show 1958 and 1959.
