The second Evening Echo-backed event was part of the third International Southend Jazz Festival and included a star line up.
The concert, at the maritime rooms, included the Tony Sandeman All-Stars featuring Tony on guitar, Andy Staples on bass guitar and Marc Cecil on drums, plus special guests Sam Edwards on keyboards, Graeme Turner on saxophone, Digby Fairweather on trumpet and vocalists Tee Green and Julia Quinn.
Tony, who runs the weekly jazz session at Saks, Southend, organised the night and was delighted with the turnout of nearly 200 people.
Half the money raised, which is still being calculated, will go to the Firefighters' Benevolent Fund in memory of Adam Meere and Bill Faust, the two firefighters who lost their lives battling a blaze in east London. The other half will go to Southend Hospital's Healing Heart's appeal.
