Clubbers were targeted by an anti-drugs message during a night out in Colchester.
Rappers Juvenile and Shadie performed their track Crack Under Pressure at the Hippodrome as part of a police and Crimestoppers campaign, also called Crack Under Pressure.
Carly Wayman, a member of the project team working on the campaign, said: "The DJ announced them and gave them a good build-up. Then they bounded on and performed the rap.
"It went down really well. There was a good crowd in front of the stage.
At the end of the night, all the clubbers were given a Crack Under Pressure pack which contained a CD of the rap and other items.
Now the team behind the campaign hope to repeat the event in other areas of Essex.
