Police say there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the collapse of an 84-year-old woman in her home.
Gas was smelt coming from the house and when firefighters arrived it appeared the property had been ransacked.
They alerted police and paramedics to the home in St Osyth Road, Clacton.
The woman was taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment. Firefighters turned off the gas and made the house safe.
Detectives from Clacton CID later ruled out any suspicious circumstances after interviewing the pensioner.
