Police were called after three youths were seen looking into vehicles.
They were seen in the early hours of Friday morning at Peartree Business Centre, Stanway.
The day before, two men were spotted walking up and down Hawkins Road in the Hythe area of Colchester, trying car doors.
Both were white and in their early 20s. One was wearing a white shirt, the other a blue shirt.
