A recently-established taxi firm could have to look for a new office a few weeks after moving in.

Elite Taxis has been working from a small former geneology shop in London Road, Rayleigh, but Rochford district councillors are being recommended to refuse its change of use.

The company said the proposal should not cause any traffic congestion as it would be purely a booking and despatch office and taxis would use the ranks at the station and the high street.

But in a report to members, head of planning Shaun Scrutton said the use was not considered appropriate for a local shopping parade.
