A woman involved in a collision with a car near Colchester died from multiple injuries, a post-mortem examination has shown.
The pedestrian, who has not been named, died on Thursday night after the collision on the B1027 near Wivenhoe Park Corner, Wivenhoe.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "The cause of death was multiple injuries consistent with her being struck by a vehicle."
The victim, believed to be in her 40s, was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Focus driven by a 45-year-old Colchester man.
Witnesses to the crash, at about 11.15pm, should call the Stanway road policing unit on 01206 762512.
