A teenager has been shot in the eye and wounded with a ball-bearing gun.

The 17-year-old was in Harwich Road, Colchester, when two men pulled up in a car and asked him directions.

Then the driver of the car, thought to be a dark blue Vauxhall Nova, shot him with a BB-gun, leaving him with a black eye.

Colin Stiff, of Colchester police, appealed for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward to help track down the boy's attacker.

He said the men were described as black and struck at about 3.30am yesterday
