French rugby star Thomas Castaignede will be touching down at Benfleet's King John school later this month.

The Saracens fly-half, who has 43 caps for his country, is the special guest of the O2 Rugbyclass summer training camp for youngsters, which is being run between Monday, August 23, and Wednesday, August 25.

King John has been picked as the venue for this course as it has a strong rugby heritage of producing a number of schoolboy internationals and professional players.

More than 60 children attended the last training sessions, which were held in Easter, and O2 Rugbyclass are hoping similar numbers of youngsters will want to come and learn from Castaignede, who will be carrying out a coaching session and signing memorabilia.

Course leader Kevin Harman said this was an excellent opportunity for young rugby players to meet and learn from one of the best current international and Zurich Premiership players around.

"We are hoping to attract a real cross section of abilities, so we can improve their skills and have some fun along the way," he said.

The course is for eight to 14-year-olds and is reaching its quota quickly. The price is £89 for the three days and bookings can be made by calling 0208 410 6009. Information can also be obtained from the website: www.rugbyclass.com.
