Drissa Diallo wants to make up for lost time when he runs out for Ipswich Town in tomorrow's Coca-Cola Championship opener against Gillingham.

By his own admission, the defender had a forgettable season last campaign.

Injured for four months, he struggled to show any kind of form on his return and consequently found himself in and out of the side.

On the eve of this term, however, he admits feeling 'mentally and physically' prepared for the battle ahead.

"I'm determined to do well, to make up for my frustrations last season," said the softly-spoken centre-half or right-back.

"I got injured after about ten games and then, after such a long lay-off, found it difficult to show my best form.

"I knew I could do a lot better but, for whatever reasons, didn't do myself justice.

"Now, as we start another season, I want to wipe the slate clean and show everyone my desire to play and be successful."
