Southend has escaped the effects of raw sewage that killed thousands of fish in the Thames earlier this week.
Southend Council has reassured tourism in the town won't be affected by the sewage outfall in the Thames caused by storms on Tuesday, and sun-seekers can use the town's beaches the same as usual.
The Environment Agency said the sewage which caused thousands of fish to suffocate is contained in the Hammersmith area.
Marjory Hall, the council's head of pier and foreshore, said: "People can be confident that the effects of the incident in London has not affected the bathing water and beaches here in Southend."
