Regulars at a Southend pub did not feel lonesome last night when a host of Elvises helped promote its new carwash night.

Even the DJ, who of course played many of the King's hits, was in costume as the Alex, in Alexandra Street, launched its new themed Thursdays.
Manager Vicki Stansfield said: "It went very, very well.
"Early on there weren't that many people there, but by the end there were a few in fancy dress. We had a fat Elvis which was funny because it was a very slim lady who padded up. We had a few people who went all out then there were a few who just did their hair and wore the sunglasses."
Carwash nights start on August 19, alternating with the pub's regular Thursday gay friendly nights.
