Mark Stones is the new club champion at Boyce Hill Golf Club after ending the reign of 2003 winner Matt Jones.

Stones had two rounds of 69 for an excellent 138 total to beat Jones (71 & 69) by two shots.

The championship at the Benfleet club was held on Sunday and also featured the club champion handicap and mid-handicap champion competitions as well.

Ian Turner (67 & 68) won the handicap title -- for players up to and including an 11 handicap -- on countback from Keith Butcher (67 & 68) after they both totalled 135.

The mid-handicap event was for players with 12 to 18 handicaps and was won by Graham Taylor with net rounds of 70 and 62 for a 132 total.
