Grateful staff at Broomfield Hospital accepted a valuable piece of equipment donated by the Witham Lions' Club.
At a special presentation held yesterday, staff at the cardiac department at the Chelmsford hospital were given a new £2,000 cardiac monitor purchased by the organisation after a successful fundraising year.
Emma Robinson of the unit, said the new monitor will be used by patients to take home and record their heart rate.
The information from it can then be downloaded on to a computer and studied by the department staff.
She said: "We are really grateful, and it's just fantastic that they have been able to do that for us. It does not seem like a huge amount of money but it is and it is a very generous thing to do."
